Bishop McEwen2

Pastorate 1956-1969

Bishop A B McEwen

Bishop A B McEwen, who was presiding State Bishop, took over the reins as pastor of the Church of God in Christ, Covington, TN.  in December 1956.  Under his leadership, restrooms were added to the front of the building, and a two-story addition was added to the rear.  Bishop McEwen was a great businessman.  He never ceased to share with his parishioners each year, as he would shower the congregation with gifts of all kinds… furniture, lotions, purses, jewelry, bags, etc, showing his appreciation to the membership.  Bishop McEwen was noted for his Cadillac car and addon telephone. He had a heart for his total membership, and didn’t mind praying for the well-being of all. He was pastor until his death in February 1969.
