Mission Statement

The mission of the Children and Preteen Sunday School Class at Great Expectations Ministry COGIC is to build a strong spiritual foundation in our young people by teaching them the Word of God with clarity, creativity, and compassion.

 

We are committed to:

  • Helping children grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Cultivating a love for God’s Word and prayer
  • Instilling Godly character and Christian values
  • Encouraging spiritual maturity, obedience, and purpose
  • Providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for learning and worship

OUR GOAL is to raise up a generation of disciples who know their identity in Christ, walk in faith, and reflect His love in their families, schools, and communities.

Sunday School Overview

🎯 Class Focus

To nurture the spiritual growth of children and preteens by teaching them Biblical truths in a way that is age-appropriate, engaging, and rooted in the values of the Church of God in Christ.

  1. Spiritual Foundation
    • Help children build a personal relationship with God through Bible stories, prayer, and worship.
  2. Moral Development
    • Instill Christian values such as kindness, honesty, forgiveness, and respect for authority.
  3. Understanding Purpose
    • Encourage preteens to seek and trust God’s plan for their lives.
  4. Bible Literacy
    • Familiarize students with key Bible stories, characters, and memory verses.
  5. Active Participation
    • Engage students in class through discussions, group activities, crafts, and service.

Activities

Children (Ages 5–8)

  • Bible Story Time: Simple retelling of Bible stories using visuals and props.
  • Arts & Crafts: Coloring sheets, paper scrolls, and crafts that connect to the lesson.
  • Songs & Rhymes: Fun worship songs with hand motions.
  • Prayer Circles: Short guided prayers with simple prompts.

Preteens (Ages 9–12)

  • Interactive Lessons: Reading scripture with discussion prompts.
  • Journaling: Reflecting on the lesson by writing or drawing.
  • Role-Playing: Acting out Bible stories or life scenarios.
  • Team Activities: Group games or projects that reinforce the theme.
  • Memory Verse Challenges: Friendly competitions to learn and recite scripture.
